Is Ignorance Bliss or...?

Some thought on ignorance...and bliss...
[click to read properly]

When I think a lot about the World about me (& within too!), & also about my own stupidity & fallacies, & how I hurt my loved & loving ones sometimes [though always inadvertently!:-( ], I cannot help but wonder if the phrase 'being blissful' involves being in-sensitive of what is happening around; sort of being 'A L O O F' (anagram for 'A FOOL' !! )...

Is that how we should be 'blissful' ?

Or is '
bliss' all about maintaining a state of 'feigned ignorance' ?

What if the apparent 'ignorance' (as seen by the other person) were true 'innocence' ??

Sigh !! I Do Not Know...
Do I Need To ?? I do not know That either.

I just wonder & ponder, as I mull & wander...

Don't Go Far Off...

Annnd now, WHAT a poem by the great Pablo Neruda...!

Piercing in its desolation...and the direct & honest way it implores the LOVED one NOT to Leave one ALONE n Go....!!

Speechless!

Don't Go Far off. . .

Don't go far off, not even for a day, because --
because -- I don't know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.

Don't leave me, even for an hour, because
then the little drops of anguish will all run together,
the smoke that roams looking for a home will drift
into me,
choking my lost heart.

Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach;
may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.

Don't leave me for a second, my dearest,
Because in that moment you'll have gone so far
I'll wander mazily over all the earth, asking,

"Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?"

I shut my eyes and...

A deeply romantic, brooding poem by Sylvia Plath. . .
Though it is written from the point of view of a girl, I feel it is equally applicable to anyone that experienced unrequited Love...!!...

Sometimes, we 'imagine' so much about sweet LOVE, but Reality turns out to be bitter...

We imagine a loving world, but then see that it is only governed by insensitivity, & what we purr-ceived to be Love, is only Conditional & superficial, and more of a business of calculations, profits & losses...!! :'(

Hmmm...read/feel on...!!

Mad Girl's Love Song. . .

I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,

And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed

And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky, hell’s fires fade:

Exit seraphim and Satan’s men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I fancied you’d return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead;

At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

Shear Magic...! <3 :)

Hi pa!!

Well, one of my friends Shreyas, had shared a link on the topic of matrices in general, & there they had shown a very interesting "shear" transformation of the image of the famous MonaLisa of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Here is that image...courtesy Wikipedia ( Click this link )

And I had promised that I too would try n somehow do that on my own...!!
Because, I felt, with my Wishful Thinking, that OLL it needs, is a matrix representation of the image in question, & then, apply a 2X2 or 3X3X3 "transformation" matrix on it...! :)

And I shut myself up, trying this way & that...checking if there's a very simple representation I could work with...but all my efforts had either gone astray or in vain...into the drain...!! :-(

But all of a sudden, teday, (on the eve of Mothers' Day..!?!?) I was able to JUST Do it..!! :)

And hence, without much ado, let me SHARE this sheer miracle..!!
[Note: SHEAR & SHARE are anagrams of each other! Howzzthat..?? :P]

Fer this experiment, I decided to use the snap of the beautiful Maria Sharapova--guess she's lucky enough to be chosen by Me fer some image make-over(s)..!!? ;)

BEFORE the SHEAR: (As-is, in fact the "shearing" parameter is all zeroed out..!)
-----------------------

AFTER a +ve SHEAR in the horizontal (x-axis) direction
-----------------------

AFTER a -ve SHEAR in the horizontal (x-axis) direction
------------------------

Hope u liked it pa..!??! :)

As fer me, i jusst LOVE--D it...(including the snap of Maria too..! ;) Sorry Maria...but thanks fer your b'ful snap & fer bearing with this...!! :) )

Thus, with some stubborn determination & image-ination, we can always manage to do some "transformations"...!! :P

Keep Smiling....AL(L)-ways...! :-* :)

Love & cheers,

the moron in "rags"
---------------------------------
Note: As a follow-up to this, I was able to extend it, & achieve a 3-D shear also..by setting up a nice, 3-dimensional [3X3X3] matrix.
But I feel the 2-D shear illustrates it just fine enough... :)

A strange Black Swan. . . ! :)

Hi pa!

i know you may laugh at it; i too did initially, till...
...till. . .i began hearing it laugh at me..!! :)

Here it is...a pattern that emerged by sheer chance...or in short, serendipity..!

I was shocked & amazed at HOW it looked like a mysterious, tantalizingly beautiful SWAN...!! :)

And before you laugh it off as a random cellection of numbers & symbols, let me assure you otherwise...!

It is actually the exact expression, or, a short-cut if you want, to compute the sum of the first 'n' natural numbers, with each raised to the power of 100

Yes, you 'heard' it right...it is the value of : {Click to see it as a larger image}

And you might be surprised to know that I had to toil more to get the above summation equation than the below expression...!! :)

Anyways, here she is. . . my beautiful Black Swan...! :)

"Why can't I  too recognize/find visual patterns in beautiful numbers..?? :-/
Certainly, if our ancestors could find our so-called 'constellations' by sheer co-incidence like the Big Bear(Ursa Major), the Hunter (Orion), Scorpius(Scorpion), The Bull(Taurus) et al, then, I too can ( & shall)...! :)"

Thanks to Mommy :)

A cup of Tea,an idea,and...voila! :)

Yesterday…as I was getting ready to go home early, I got stuck up with some office-work, & ended up having to wait for almost an hour for a bus in which I could jostle & finally reach home…

Not surprisingly, mom was peeved at me for not being home “on-time” ;she waits fer me everyday, just to have a tea with me...!
{My Pappa does not drink tea or coffee. And that leaves only me fer her company…!}

But soon, seeing how tired I was, her anger melted & turned to affection, and before I knew it, I was sitting before the TV with a steaming cup-o’tea, dunking & savouring bread slices, regardless of the fact that it was almost dinner time for the rest of the world.. :)

And then, I had dinner with Pappa & Mommy, but during dinner, there was talk about the world, & various countries, etc. And Mommy became especially curious to know if we could easily get every country’s name, along with its capital-city.
{
She seemed impressed at first when I told her the place where my dear friend Siva Prasanna is currently staying, called Dar Es Salaam, is the capital of Tanzania in Africa. She then suspiciously asked if I knew all the countries & capitals of the world, or if I was just bluffing. Hahaha. Nobody seems to believe me-moron..? :(
}

That’s it...! :-)

The unexpected cup of tea, and my Mommy’s curiosity had their effect…!

I quickly ran into my room, to my lappie…& came up with a 2-line (yes ! Just 2 lines!!) code which created this magical image… J

It has a list of 237 countries, their capital cities & their flags & even their shapes respectively...!

{Click on it..., better save it & SCROLL & view with a program like Google's Picasa..!! J}

Tried..??
I know...the image doesn't even appear at its normal size right..?
Thanks a ton to a few of my friends fer pointing it right away to me-moron.
"Only your real friends tell you when your face is dirty.", as my one of my oft-quoted saying (a Sicilian proverb) goes.:-)

Here's the LINK fer the image to download & view properly..! :)

The strange thing is, I took hardly 5 minutes to cleverly set up those 2 lines…but took an additional 20 minutes to get my CRAZY COLORs, FONTS, etc…! J

Some interesting points to note:
  1. The font I wanted ( & managed to get!) is simply country number 138 J
  2. The map of Egypt (number 60) has a near perfect right angle…looks like a right-angled triangle… J
  3. The flag of Isle of Man (number 100) is so interesting, and unusual.

This then, is THANKS to YOU Mommy...!! :-)

Love & Best Wishes,

An in(cr)edible recipe_Part_002 <3 :)

(This is the 2'nd & final episode of a mysterious piece of pattern....read the first, crucial part here )

Phew...!!!

Finally...! :-)

The time has come...and due to inspirations in various forms...i've finally come "round" to breaking this long suspense over my recip(i)e...fer well...see it below..!

I have talked about a special function f(n) in my previous post

Now you may be wondering what is so special about it..

Isn't it..??

Have you EVER wondered WHY or HOW the famous mathematical constant, the transcendental number of Pi is usually said to be 22/7 right frem (y)our school days...?

Well, HOLD your breath...& click on the below image I created...(finally, after 4-5 days of being "stuck", "lost", & suddenly getting the solution to generate in one simple line of code..!! :) )...

I shall NOT say ANything ELSE/MORE...!

Just Click, & I'm sure you'll Smile...!! :)

Isn't this one of the MOST surPrising of oLL algorithms/patterns..!??!
The result above is NOT a fluke or co-incidence..

We get even better approximations to Pi at n=5076, etc...& it hovers quite near the value of Pi...as n increases..

I am not aware of ANY Proof as such as to WHY or HOW this ratio seems to approach or approximate Pi the way it does...
[But the max i know is that it could have been discovered by the great genius of Pál Erdős alongwith one of his beloved friends...though I'll surely update this space with more accurate info., as soon as i 'remember' it...!! :) ]

Whatever it is...!!

This is ONE Pi(e) recipe...that is unlike No/few other...!!!

And I'm presently thinking of scribbling a book-let at-least with a cellection of the Greatest such recipes...!!!

WHAT do you say pa..!??! :)
Please say something..!?!?
Come on now...please do respond to me...!! :-(:::

Why, aren't you my sweetie Pi(e)..!?!? ;-) :)...Hmmm...???

Take care...& keep smiling..! :)

Lots of LoVE <3 :),

An in(cr)edible recipe_Part_001 <3 :)

Hi pa..!!

Please Listen to Me...at-least one time...!?!

{ Time is running out..!! Hope you ARE listening...!? :-/ Hmmm.. :-( }

I just want you to do something fer me, & I promise YOU to show you something so incredible..!!!! :)

If I give you a +ve integer, 'n' to start with, you should go on giving me the smallest integer that is a multiple of (n-1) such that it is greater than or equal to 'n', STORE the result, & go on till you reach n=2, at which point the result does NOT change...
Okay..? :)

JUST do that, and I shall show you a MAGICAL new thingy...!! :)
But don't stop...continue with this value 6 & the value 3 as your new 'n'...
i.e.., 6 gives way to 3-1=2*3=6 (n-1 is now 2)
and now, you can verify that considering n=2 , the answer remains the same =  6

Hence, given n=4 the final answer should be 6.

i.e.., 6 gives way to 3-1=2*3=6 (n-1 is now 2)
and now, you can verify that considering n=2 , the answer remains the same =  6
Hence, given n=4 the final answer should be 6.

Hence, given n=4 the final answer should be 6.
Or...to take another example, given n=5, the answer should be 10
{5-->8(by 4)-->9(by 3)-->10(by 2)-->10(by 1)-->STOP}

E.g., fer n=4, u start, & first come up with 6 (temporary result) by considering (n-1)=3

Or....given n=10, the answer should be 34.
HOW..?
Here's HOW...
{10-->18(by 9)-->24(by 8)-->28(by 7)-->30(by 6)-->30(by 5)-->32(by 4)-->33(by 3)-->34(by 2)-->34(by 1)-->STOP}

So LET us imagine this PROCESS of generating the ANSWER, given a +ve integer 'n' input...as a Black-box...!

In Mathematical terms...let me call it a Function 'f' mapping an input 'n' (+ve integer) to some other +ve integer.

Thus, we have,

f(1)=1,
f(4)=6,
f(5)=10,
f(10)=34
:
:
and so on...

[Can u write a simple function or manually build a table like this..for different values of +ve integers..?]

AHEM..!!

JUSST keep this function in mind...be READY..!!

For WHAT I shall unveil to YOU...is going to be one amazing surprise...!!!!!

I Promise..!!!!

(To be continued. . .)

[
PS:

Not that I want to keep you waiting...no way...I myself can't wait...!!

As I have said, Time is running out...& i have to SHARE soo many beautiful thingies..!!

It's just that I may have to spend some more energy/focus on R&D...! :)

I shall try & come up with a 'black-box' (function) of my own & try to graph some results...which shall be a fitting tribute to this incredible thingy we're going to witness..!

Am sure you shall agree...SOOON....!! ;) :)

Get Ready...to be SURPRISED...!!!

Search for Snakes...! :)

Hi pa,

Thanks to my friends Hemanth, Gundeep, Anand & Amit, me got to know recently that 2011, apart from being a prime, is also the sum of 11 consecutive primes..!

Here's the problem formulation I managed to somehow type...which i have tried to make as generic as possible...
(except for the operation being Summation...!! It could be Product, or anything you can think of ! Feel Free to play around, explore & note down any beautiful patterns u may stumble upon...! :) )

Please click on the below picture to read the text better..it's just my silly analogies..but hope it's clear enough..?! :)

I decided to scribble some code to do this...& I discussed with many of my dear friends like Pavan, Prasidhya, et al., about my intuition as to how to go about it...I am Always indebted to them, fer NEVER EVER getting irritated with me-moron, but always smilingly listening to what I had to say ( or scribble & doodle, as always..! :) )...!

But somehow, i could never bring myself to actually write any piece of code---i was in that 'stuck' state...of utter emptiness, like always..! :)

I would struggle to articulate & explain one approach to my dears, & my MIND would soon fill up with counter-arguments for it, & soo much noise that I soon decided to shut-up & stop disturbing them with my stupid blabberings, and instead, leave the problem...(to simmer...! :))...

Post-Lunch....alone....and a hunch...!! ;) :)

And one fine day...(not so fine...since i was all lonely fer lunch...!), I was walking back from lunch, looking up @ the lovely clouds floating in the azure skies....& ...YES..! :)

i suddenly felt the ideas rushing into me...!! :)

i hurried up to my floor...took a cup of Tea...& feverishly typed a baby Java program...(not meant to be a model of coding..no ways..but, instead, just a transliteration of what i 'heard/felt' ...should/can be done...to discover this LONG, coiled, camouflaged SNAKE...nestled in the infinite ROPE of Numbers...!!

And except for an initial "ArrayIndexOfOutOfBoundsException" once, my baby program ran without any hassles...& showed me exactly what i wanted to see !  Phew !! :)

Have decided to share the complete code fer YOU, if you are interested, so that you can improve/modify it & do your own experiments...! :)

Please visit the below link to see the source-code (scantily/crazily documented...on the 'spur of the moment' :) )...u can hv a good laugh @ HOW it is JUST a plain translation of my childish idea...! :)
http://pastie.org/private/9aeq40yg5d6deflhxddata

Click on the below image to see a sample run... :)

Hope you too begin 'seeing' some snakes & worms & patterns in numbers then...!

Take care...and keep L(i/o)ving...!! :-O :)
