Shear Magic...! <3 :)

Hi pa!!


Well, one of my friends Shreyas, had shared a link on the topic of matrices in general, & there they had shown a very interesting "shear" transformation of the image of the famous MonaLisa of Leonardo Da Vinci.

And I had promised that I too would try n somehow do that on my own...!!
Because, I felt, with my Wishful Thinking, that OLL it needs, is a matrix representation of the image in question, & then, apply a 2X2 or 3X3X3 "transformation" matrix on it...! :)


And I shut myself up, trying this way & that...checking if there's a very simple representation I could work with...but all my efforts had either gone astray or in vain...into the drain...!! :-(


But all of a sudden, teday, (on the eve of Mothers' Day..!?!?) I was able to JUST Do it..!! :)


And hence, without much ado, let me SHARE this sheer miracle..!!
[Note: SHEAR & SHARE are anagrams of each other! Howzzthat..?? :P]


Fer this experiment, I decided to use the snap of the beautiful Maria Sharapova--guess she's lucky enough to be chosen by Me fer some image make-over(s)..!!? ;)

Note: As a follow-up to this, I was able to extend it, & achieve a 3-D shear also..by setting up a nice, 3-dimensional [3X3X3] matrix.
But I feel the 2-D shear illustrates it just fine enough... :)

Hi pa,

The other day, while thinking of the strange vicissitudes of life, I came up with a very nice quote...but unfortunately, very few of my friends seem to have pondered about it, & the loving, love-ly graphs I came up to support it & the corollaries...!! :-(

So, here i am...writing to you...to share my 'babies' again...in hope...! :)

What i thought/said was...

"Life, is a sine-wave."

Later, it dawned on me that, all life "dies" down ultimately...even a wave loses its energy ultimately ( in the "real" universe, not theoretical..!)...

So, I modified my statement to :

"Life, is a (damped) sine-wave (in space-time)."

Women & the Universe -- sequel..! :)

Parallels between Women and the Universe...!?!

Today my dear friend Pavan was asking me about my views on Parallel Universes...! I shrugged my shoulders & said it's not a good scientific theory, since nothing about it can be easily proved/disproved by means of simple experiments--the hallmarks of a sound scientific theory. 

But thanks to his questions...i-Moron (That, would be the title of my auto-bio-graphy!! :P) suddenly remembered about my idea of writing a sequel to my previous article...& this time...list out the "parallels" of our Universe w.r.t. Women..!! :))

Without much ado...here we go..! :)

• Both are structures of incredible, infinite complexity...! 
• Both are the very source(s) of ALL Life...& have captured the imagination (& lives too..!! :( :) ) of we-men..!! ;) :)
• Both are immensely mysterious; with nobody yet able to fathom the secrets they harbour...from Einstein to Freud..! Nobody ever will too..! :)
• If provided the right kind of conditions, both are capable of giving birth/rise to bright new stars...!! :)
• Despite their external appearance of great serenity & stability, both are..in fact, seething cauldrons of chaos & confusion within..! In deed, it is a miracle that despite such complexity inside, they appear to be pretty order-ly outside!
• Both seem to be beyond the grasp of scientific study/analysis! Only mystics, poets & mad-men seem to be able to "see" their true-nature. As fer normal sane men, if/when they try to do it, they too end up as mystics, poets or made-men..! :)

Again no offence meant ...please..!! :) 

Hope you liked it..& it evokes more parallels between the two..?!?
I welcome you to share them then. Hmmm... :)

Anyway, it is easier to observe women than to study we-men. Because then I would be observing frem  the outside.

Of-course, it is an altogether different challenge/exercise to meditate on our own selves....to glance within..! That experience...is...simply Beyond All Wor(l)ds ...!! :)

Especially, I feel fascinated by How the SAME IDEAS tend to sprout in different minds at different points in Space-Time...! (The idea of GOD, or fer that matter Calculus, are a few of the many glaring examples of this rare-yet-possible phenomenon..!)

THAT, fer me, is something inexpressibly mysterious, yet joy-giving...to contemplate the rare probability that the SAME idea (be it a thought, equation, image, joke, word, poem,...in fact any idea..!) can SPRING up in 2 separate(??!?) brains...! :)

Science (f)-or Pseudo-science. . .


Thanks to Microsoft 's research project code-named Project-Tuva, (which is actually a nice way of attracting people to try out their new web-app runtime/platform SilverLight ..!), I was watching the first of the Messenger Series Lectures on the Character of Physical Law delivered at Cornell University by none other than one of the MOST brilliant theoretical physicists, & one of the most original thinkers of recent times--- Richard Feynman...!!

After explaining the Law of Gravitation in a way that ONLY he can do, he paused & went into the applications of the law...

I quote below the excerpt of his lecture verbatim...

In fact, for a very short-while, his always-effervescent face almost becomes grim...!

Needless to say, it HURTS to see Science again being made to Work for Pseudo-Science, which ONLY serves to mis-Guide our lives, rather than Enlighten & Guide us from the Depths of our Ignorance...!
